Flea the Cat is my first self-published game, created to complete a full project and gain experience with Steam publishing. I developed many of the core mechanics in a single sleepless night, transforming an insomnia-fueled idea into a playable prototype.
The core gameplay was inspired by Guitar Hero but allowing players to take risks for bonuses while providing a safe fallback. I implemented a looping difficulty curve that adjusts enemy spawn rates and gradually introduces tougher enemies to keep players engaged.
I also integrated an online leaderboard using Playfab, tackling the challenges of networking and persistence to ensure the feature was reliable and reusable for future projects. In the final polish stage, I added a range indicator for player actions, a moving moon to convey time, and a shuriken ultimate ability to enhance gameplay.
